The webcam is running on a 12v computer using Linux with the openSuSE distribution, initially version 12.1, current version, Leap 15.0.

The power supply is a 18v solar-panel that supplies the computer with power via a charge-controller. It also charges a  12v battery - the battery then supplies the computer with power during periods with little sun.

 Initially the system was made out of interest for solar panels and their efficiency. The computer with the webcam was set up to monitor the efficiency of the solar panels. Monitoring the solar panels has stopped but the system is running until it breaks (started summer 2012).
